This project came together so elegantly that it felt as though we simply put the pieces into place. This transitional kitchen was designed with functionality in mind. We removed the kitchen’s original island, giving a greater space in which to operate. By closing off a doorway to the eat-in area and installing an interior window, we created a comfortable space for a custom-made banquette beneath. The maple floor, with colonial baseboard and casing, maintains the traditional look of the rest of the home and the transitional kitchen. We added functionality and aesthetic appeal to reflect the owner’s tastes and vision.
